What is Endoluminal Gastroplication?
Endoluminal Gastroplication is a medical therapy developed for the treatment of symptomatic Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD). The procedure works by creating plications, or pleats, at the lower esophageal sphincter (LES). Performing the procedure has been shown to significantly improve symptoms and regurgitation while reducing or eliminating patients' dependence on acid-controlling medications.
What are the advantages of the EndoCinch* Suturing System?
Studies have shown that minimally invasive GERD treatment with the EndoCinch* Suturing System can control symptomatic GERD and reduce the need for acid-controlling medications. In fact, a clinical trial has shown:
90% of patients reported no or mild regurgitation 6-months post-procedure*
>70% reduction in overall symptoms*
75% reduction in the use of multiple medications or daily proton pump inhibitors (PPIs)*
Additional advantages:
It is incisionless and performed on an outpatient basis.
It offers a fast recovery time - patients can resume normal activities the following day.
Only mild sedation is required.
To date over 3000 procedures have been performed in the United States, over 5000 worldwide.
